Dixon Technologies to manufacture LED TVs for Samsung

New Delhi: South Korean electronics company Samsung and Noida-based Dixon Technologies will jointly manufacture LED televisions in India.

The local electronics maker will manufacture television sets for the consumer goods giant at its facility in Tirupati, as per the agreement.

“Dixon Technologies (India) Limited and Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd have entered into agreement for manufacturing of LED TVs. Dixon shall be manufacturing LED TV for Samsung from its manufacturing facility located at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh,” Dixon said in a late night filing to the stock exchanges on Friday.

Companies often work with local contract manufacturers to make or assemble goods in India. Dixon also manufactures part of Samsung’s washing machines, and feature phones in India.

“Samsung is one of the most valued brand in the technological world as they work relentlessly towards elevating innovation and technology. Samsung continues to evolve into a company that contributes to a better world. Considering the faith they have bestowed on Dixon by collaborating in washing machines, mobile phones and now LED TVs, we are hopeful that our partnership grows sturdier with time,” Sunil Vachani, executive chairman, Dixon Technologies said in the filing.

In October, the two companies also announced an agreement that will see Dixon manufacture phones for Samsung in India out of its facility in Noida.
