5 OYO properties booked in every second this year. Guess which state saw highest bookings

OYO Hotels & Homes recently unveiled its annual travel index OYO Travelopedia 2019 which highlights some interesting trends in the on hotel bookings in 2009. Opened in 2013, OYO Hotels & Homes, a young hotel startup that operates real estate comprising more than 44,000 hotels with over 1.2 million rooms. Every second five OYO properties were booked in 2009, mentioned the report.

Uttar Pradesh emerged as ‘the most welcoming state’ in the country as it received highest number of travel bookings in this year. Maharashtra came at the second position followed by Karnataka. Last year, the top spot belonged to Karnataka. The national capital of India retained its top spot as the city which recorded the maximum number of travel cancellations followed by re-bookings.

Enriching history and easy connectivity made Delhi the most-searched destination on the OYO platform. The national capital also recorded maximum bookings within the first 10 days of every month in 2019, Hyderabad came second in this category and Bangalore remained in the third position.

At what time of the day, you usually book an OYO room? The report revealed 11 am was the most popular time of the day to book an OYO room among travellers.

August seemed to be favourite month for travelling in India in 2019. August 9 emerged as the OYO’d day with the maximum number of bookings. Travellers pre-booked the most during the Independence Day long weekend. Goa grabbed the top spot in terms of most number of pre-bookings in that long weekend. Jaipur remained in the second position while Visakhapatnam recorded the third highest pre-bookings.

In 2019, OYO has recorded a 2.7 times year-on-year jump in the number of bookings as compared to last year, revealed the index.

“We are excited to capture these interesting insights in the second annual edition of OYO Travelopedia. The results indicate the growing popularity of OYO when it comes to trusted and quality accommodations not just in India but globally,” said Gaurav Ajmera, Chief Operating Officer, OYO Hotels & Homes, India.

OYO Travelopedia 2019 index also revealed that a single user stayed in an OYO property for 84 continuous nights. With a global app user base of 77.5 million, OYO app has been ranked third on Google Play in the travel category.
